Supply and Demand Forecast

CfWI supply forecast and view of demand

The Centre for Workforce Intelligence (CfWI) supply forecast for CCT holders (or equivalent) is generated by considering factors affecting supply, including the number of doctors in training, future healthcare requirements, international recruitment and young leavers. This supply forecast represents all doctors eligible for entry to the specialist register. This does not mean that all these doctors will be employed in the NHS in England.

The full basis of each forecast is available on the Centre for Workforce Intelligence.

The supply forecast can then be compared with the CfWI view of workforce demand, which is the required workforce that the NHS can afford.  Workforce demand is often confused with workforce need, which is the required workforce without any financial constraints to deliver the service.

This information is only available for England.
