curriculum
for otolaryngology is available here online.
Training pathway
Trainees complete either themed or generic
surgical training at ST1 and ST2 level and enter otolaryngology
training at ST3 level.*
Length of training
The indicative time frames for each stage are
as follows:
- The initial stage of training in the specialty of ORL: 2
years.
- The final stage of training in the specialty of ORL: 4 - 5
years.
- The special interest training in the specialty of ORL surgery:
1- 2 years.
Giving an overall predicted length of training
of 7 - 8 years for the majority of trainees entering the
specialty.
Qualifications
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
Entry to ST3 also requires successful completion of MRCS or
equivalent at time of application.
