Specialty Curriculum

The Old Age Psychiatry curriculum, as approved by the GMC, is available on the GMC website.

Training Pathway

Training in old age psychiatry commences at ST4 level, following three years of core psychiatry training.

Length of Training

Specialist training in psychiatry is six years.  Following the successful completion of core psychiatry training (three years), trainees can specialise in old age psychiatry, which is a further three years of higher training.

Qualifications

  • MBBS OR equivalent medical qualification
  • MRCPsych OR MRCPsych equivalent as approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists OR a specialist qualification in psychiatry from an EU country that complies with the requirements of EU directive 2005/36/EC
