The postgraduate training curriculum for
paediatrics, as approved by the GMC is available

Training pathway
Training in paediatrics commences at ST1
level. The training pathway comprises of three levels. All
trainees must follow levels one and two of the general paediatric
curriculum. At level three they may decide whether to continue in
general paediatrics, or apply to complete their training in a
chosen sub-specialty of paediatrics.
Length of training
Although this curriculum is competency based,
training from ST1 will usually be completed within eight
years of full time training.
Qualifications
MBBS or equivalent medical
qualification.
Entry to ST3 requires MRCPCH Part 1A and B and entry to ST4
requires MRCPCH.
