The GMC-approved postgraduate training curriculum for renal medicine is available online.

Training pathway

Trainees follow either core medical training or the acute care common stem in acute medicine (ACCS) and enter renal medicine training from ST3 level.*

Length of training

Curriculum competencies will usually be achieved within a five-year programme commencing at ST1, including three years of clinical nephrology starting at ST3.

Qualifications

MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.  MRCP (UK) or equivalent.
