Training pathway
Trainees complete either core medical training
or the acute care common stem in acute medicine (ACCS) and enter
training in general internal medicine at ST3 level.*

Length of training
Trainees wishing to hold a CCT in GIM (Acute),
and so be eligible to take up a position as a Specialist in Acute
Medicine, are required to complete at least a further year of
training following successful attainment of Level 2 training.
Person specifications and qualifications
Trainees can enter specialty training in
general internal medicine (acute) at ST 3 after sucessful
attainment of level 2 core medical or acute care common stem
training programmes.
