Specialty curriculum

The GMC-approved postgraduate training curriculum for clinical genetics is available.

Training pathway

Trainees can complete either two levels of core medical training, the acute care common stem in acute medicine (ACCS) or basic paediatric training and can then enter clinical genetics training at ST3 level.*

Length of training

The indicative length of specilaty training for clinical genetics is six years.

Qualifications

MBBS or equivalent medical qualification. 
MRCP (UK) or MRCPCH or equivalent.

The person specification for clinical genetics is available.
