These two case studies were written by F2 doctors from Health Education South West who either studied abroad or took a year out of their studies at the end of foundation. They have shared their experiences and learning to help inform other  doctors who face similar decisions.

Working in Australia

Taking a year out

Helena Bart shares her experience of the approach needed and costs involved in working in Australia after completing F2. Use Helena's guide and her suggested links together  with all of the other materials on medical careers  about working and  training abroad if you are considering a year overseas at the end of foundation.

Ruth Dodwell, Pete Torrance, Marie O'Sullivan, Chris Goes and Vicky Smith have prepared case studies on how they spent a year out at the end of foundation. They describe a number of situations that people might themselves face together with good personal advice based on their own experiences.
